The Fruit Farm is situated at the end of a private tree lined drive, off of the B3151 Street to Somerton road and a warm and friendly welcome awaits you.

The Fruit Farm

The Fruit Farm is a Bungalow and was completed in 2020 it overlooks open fields and Glastonbury Tor.

We can offer accommodation in a double room and a Twin bedded room both rooms are En-suite and have TV’s, Wi Fi, refreshment trays, hair dryers and towels are provided.

Our Rooms

The bedrooms are both carpeted with tiled En-suites. Also there is a separate bathroom with a bath, should you prefer to take a bath and it’s situated opposite the bedrooms. All bedrooms and En-suites have heated towel rails, are double glazed and have under floor heating. Ironing board and iron is available on request.

A good breakfast is assured and we offer a varied choice.

Fruit Juice, Fresh Fruit, Yogurt and a selection of cereals, Tea (various flavours) Coffee served in a cafetiere and Hot Chocolate

Full English Breakfast including any of the following.

  • Fried, Poached or Scrambled Eggs
  • Locally sourced Sausages, Bacon, Fried bread or Hash browns, Tomato, Mushrooms.
  • Baked Beans or Black Pudding on request
  • Omelettes or Boiled Eggs
  • Toast and a selection of spreads

Vegetarian or vegan breakfasts are available

Any specific dietary requirements can be catered for with prior arrangement.

Most of our ingredients are sourced from local suppliers.

Breakfast is served in the Guests dining room, which has a large dining table. The dining room is carpeted and the chairs are movable.

This is a non-smoking house but guests are welcome to smoke outside of the property.

We welcome children over the age of 8. We are sorry but we cannot accept dogs, with the exception of guide dogs or assistance dogs.

Location

We are situated next to National Trust land with many lovely walks and  Collard Hill, an important breeding site in Somerset for the rare Large Blue Butterflies, which may be seen from mid- June to early July, depending on weather conditions.

Just 2 miles away is Coombe Hill Nature Reserve another beautiful spot with far reaching views across the Village of Compton Dundon and the Somerset levels. It is possible to walk there from the Fruit Farm having to only cross one road.

Bring your Bicycle as there are many beautiful places to cycle on the Somerset levels and lots of nature reserves to explore. It’s a bird watchers paradise.

Clarks Shopping Village is 2 Miles away.

Glastonbury Tor, Glastonbury Abbey, The Chalice Well and gardens just 3 Miles away

Glastonbury festival site is 8 miles away in the village of Pilton.

The Royal bath and West Show site is 10 miles away.

Other attractions are :

  • Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum.
  • Wells and Wells Cathedral.
  • Wookey Hole caves.
  • Cheddar caves and the Mendip Hills.

We are placed mid-way between the South coast with historic Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coast approximately 1 hour away and the Bristol Channel coast and Weston Super Mare approximately 45 minutes away.

There is plenty to do and many places to visit.

Getting Here

M5 motorway junction 23 is 13 miles away. Then follow A39.

A303 Podimore services roundabout  9.3 miles away then take B3151 Somerton road then follow B3151 to Street.

Castle Cary Rail Station is 9 miles away.

Local Taxi services are available.

There is plenty of off street parking and a secure place to leave Bicycles. As this is a new property, access was a key part of the planning. A slope leads to the front door and into a spacious hall with a hard floor and all doors in the property are 80cm wide. Descriptions of the Bedrooms and Dining room are mentioned above

In the case of a fire and evacuation purposes, there are Patio doors leading off of the hallway and the Kitchen and there is also a back door.

All smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are hard wired.

The room that we were but in was the most beautiful room I have ever seen it had a very large fireplace think it went back 400hundred year when the building was built as a tavin then there was a amazing view of the monument from the window of the bedroom the owner did a good variety for breakfast my husband and I really enjoyed it there the family of the farm were all very friendly and could not do enough for you we plan to go back next year.
